Has anyone studied filmaking or television at a university or specialty school? I need to ask you some questions.

well I don't know whether there is any information about my course on the Uni web site but here's the address anyway: www.surrart.ac.uk
the courses are BA (hons) Film and Video Production and BA (hons) Film and Video Broadcast and New Media Practices (new pathway probably not on the website) Piece of important advice - find out which one suits you best - there are differences and stuff is changing all the time so if you want to know specifics contact staff. If you need anymore info contact me.

Thanks for the reply. I studied television at a university and now I am going to be director of a new film school in Mexico. It's been a while since I was in school. What I want to know is what curriculum was helpful and what was a waste of time?

    Thanks

Looking back at my last year, what seemed a bit unnecessary at the time , now fits perfectly into place. So if you would like a list of the first year studies this might give you ideas. If your interested i could mail the information to you with a quick note about each .

    Good luck

I teach at a Great school called the Gulf Islands Film and Television School (G.I.F.T.S.)It is a film boot camp in the woods, on a island off the coast of Canada. We run week and month long intensives. The school has been running for 5 years now and in that time films made by students here have won 93 national and international awards. More then any school in Canada. We teach film, video (drama and documentary), classical animation, multimedia animation, computer animation, digital video effects and sound track composition. In the week long you leave the school with film in hand. It's a great program you work hard and learn a ton. Check out our web site www.youthfilms.com or e-mail us at [email protected]
